Ireland's Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment has published updated guidance on the EU Artificial Intelligence (AI) Act, including key commencement milestones and an overview of the Act's phased application.

The guidance is positioned as a practical reference for organisations operating in Ireland and summarises the staged obligations that apply over 2025–2026 and beyond, including governance arrangements and forthcoming national implementation steps.

The update is also accompanied by Irish legislative work for implementation, including publication of the General Scheme of the Regulation of Artificial Intelligence Bill 2026.

Acompli perspective: If you cannot produce an inventory of AI use and ownership, you cannot classify risk or plan for transparency obligations. Use national guidance as a trigger to formalise your internal AI register. Build your AI governance requirements around this guidance, develop a compliance roadmap for phased implementation, and complete risk assessments where AI systems interact with personal data.
