Acompli team collaborating

Our Ethos

We believe compliance software should be as thoughtful as the work it supports.

Substance over spectacle

We do not chase trends or add features for the sake of a press release. Every decision we make is grounded in whether it genuinely helps the people who use our platform. We would rather do fewer things well than many things poorly.

Honesty about what software can do

We are clear-eyed about the role of automation. AI can assist, but it cannot replace the judgement of a skilled DPO. We build tools that augment expertise, not tools that pretend expertise is unnecessary.

Respect for the craft

Whether it is code, design, or compliance advice, we take pride in doing work that stands up to scrutiny. We review each other's work carefully, not to find fault, but because we know that attention to detail is what separates good from great.

Long-term thinking

We are building a company that we want to work at for years, not one optimised for a quick exit. That means sustainable pace, honest communication, and decisions that prioritise durability over speed.

How We Work

Our culture is shaped by the belief that good work comes from trust, clarity, and space to think.

Async by default

We write things down, give people time to think, and avoid meetings that could be messages. When we do meet, it is because synchronous conversation genuinely adds value.

Small teams, big ownership

You will not be a cog in a machine. Everyone here has real responsibility and the autonomy to make decisions within their domain. We hire people we trust, then we actually trust them.

Feedback is a gift

We give feedback directly and kindly. We assume good intent. We would rather have an uncomfortable conversation early than let problems fester.

Work is not your whole life

We do not expect you to be available at all hours. We do not celebrate overwork. We want you to have interests, relationships, and a life outside of Acompli.

Benefits

We offer a comprehensive package designed to support you professionally and personally.

Remote-First

Work from anywhere in the UK or Ireland. We believe great work happens when you have the flexibility to work where you are most productive.

Health & Wellbeing

Comprehensive health insurance, mental health support, and a genuine commitment to work-life balance. We do not glorify burnout.

Pension Contribution

We contribute to your pension from day one. Planning for the future should not be an afterthought.

Generous Leave

25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, with additional days for life events. Rest is essential, not optional.

Parental Leave

Enhanced maternity, paternity, and adoption leave beyond statutory minimums. Family comes first.

Growth & Learning

Annual learning budget, conference attendance, and time dedicated to professional development. We invest in your growth.

Equipment Budget

Choose your own hardware. We provide a generous budget for the tools you need to do your best work.

Team Retreats

Regular in-person gatherings to connect, collaborate, and celebrate. Remote does not mean isolated.

Bike to Work

Take advantage of the Bike to Work scheme to save on a new bicycle and accessories.

Equity Participation

Share in our success with meaningful equity grants. We want everyone to benefit from what we build together.

Our Home: Maynooth

For hybrid roles, our office is based in Maynooth, Co. Kildare – one of Ireland's most vibrant university towns.

Maynooth offers something rare: a town with genuine character that is still exceptionally well connected. Just 25 kilometres west of Dublin, it combines the energy of a university town with the quality of life you simply cannot find in the capital.

Excellent Transport Links

Direct rail service to Dublin city centre in under 30 minutes, with trains running every 15-20 minutes during peak hours. The M4 motorway provides easy access for drivers, and Dublin Airport is just 40 minutes away. Bus Éireann and Dublin Bus routes connect Maynooth to the wider region.

University Town Energy

Home to Maynooth University – Ireland's fastest-growing university – the town has a youthful, intellectual atmosphere. The campus hosts regular public lectures, cultural events, and world-class research facilities. The university's presence brings diversity, good coffee, and a sense of possibility.

Affordable Living

Property prices and rents in Maynooth are significantly more reasonable than Dublin, without sacrificing access to the city. Whether you are renting or buying, your money goes further here. Many team members have found they can afford homes with gardens – a genuine luxury in the Dublin commuter belt.

Historic Character

Maynooth Castle dates back to the 12th century, and St Patrick's College has been training clergy since 1795. The town's tree-lined Main Street, Georgian architecture, and the beautiful grounds of the university create an environment that feels established rather than hastily assembled.

Quality of Life

Independent cafés, good restaurants, a weekly farmers' market, and the Royal Canal Greenway for running and cycling. The Carton House estate offers parkland walks minutes from the town centre. You can have lunch by the canal, not at your desk.

Tech Hub Growth

Maynooth is increasingly home to technology companies attracted by the talent pipeline from the university, the transport links, and the quality of life. You will be part of a growing tech community, not isolated in a business park.

Note: Most of our roles are remote-first. You do not need to relocate to Maynooth to work at Acompli. But for those who prefer hybrid working or want to be closer to colleagues, Maynooth is a genuinely great place to be.

Open Positions

We are always looking for exceptional people. If you do not see a role that fits but think you would be a great addition, we still want to hear from you.

Senior Backend Engineer - Privacy Infrastructure

EngineeringRemote (UK/Ireland)Full-time

We are building the infrastructure that powers privacy-first compliance automation. You will design and implement backend systems that handle sensitive data securely, scale to support thousands of organisations, and integrate with complex regulatory workflows. This is core platform work, not peripheral tooling.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of backend engineering experience building production systems
  • Strong proficiency in Python and modern backend frameworks (FastAPI, Django, or similar)
  • Experience designing APIs, data models, and distributed systems architecture
  • Deep understanding of security, encryption, and privacy-preserving system design
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and database systems (PostgreSQL, vector databases)
  • Comfortable working across the stack when needed, but backend is your strength

AI Research Engineer - Privacy & Compliance

Research & DevelopmentRemote (UK/Ireland)Full-time

We are building privacy-preserving AI for compliance automation. This is an opportunity to take academic ML/NLP research and apply it to a real-world problem domain with immediate impact. You will research and develop models that understand regulatory text, assess risk, and generate compliant documentation. This is a hands-on role: you will own problems end-to-end, from research to production deployment.

What You Will Do

  • Design and train NLP models for regulatory document understanding and compliance assessment
  • Build retrieval systems that help organisations find relevant GDPR guidance from thousands of regulatory sources
  • Develop risk scoring models that learn from enforcement decisions and case law
  • Experiment with privacy-preserving techniques for training on sensitive compliance data
  • Work directly with customers to understand pain points and validate model performance in the real world

What You Will Learn

  • How to take research prototypes to production systems used by real organisations
  • Applied NLP in a regulated, high-accuracy domain (very different from consumer AI)
  • Working at the intersection of machine learning, law, and software engineering
  • You will have access to compute resources, modern ML infrastructure, and direct mentorship from the founding team

Why This Role

  • Own meaningful problems from day one—you will define research directions, not just execute tasks
  • See your work used immediately by DPOs and privacy teams, not published and forgotten
  • Equity participation—share in what we build together
  • Work with a small, focused team where your contributions directly shape the product
  • Remote-first culture with the autonomy to structure your own research time

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, NLP, or related field (recent graduates welcome)
  • Strong foundation in modern NLP and transformer architectures
  • Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow, and ML experimentation workflows
  • Familiarity with retrieval systems, embeddings, or document understanding is a plus
  • Comfortable writing production-quality Python code, not just research prototypes
  • Interest in working at the intersection of AI and regulatory compliance
  • Self-directed and comfortable with ambiguity—you will define problems, not just solve assigned tasks
